Who are they?
Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati was a young Italian man whose life radiated holiness through the ordinary. Born into a wealthy, influential family in Turin, he chose simplicity over status, often giving away his tram fare to the poor and walking home instead.
He loved mountain climbing, practical jokes, and spending time with friends—yet beneath this joyful exterior was a soul deeply rooted in prayer, Eucharistic devotion, and service. His ordinariness made him relatable, and it was precisely in his everyday choices that he revealed the extraordinary grace of living the Gospel.
Pope Saint John Paul II called him “the man of the eight beatitudes” because Pier Giorgio embodied each one with striking authenticity. He was poor in spirit, merciful, pure of heart, and a peacemaker—living out the Gospel not in grand gestures but in quiet, consistent love. He joined the St. Vincent de Paul Society, cared for the sick and forgotten, and stood up for justice, even when it meant confronting fascist forces in Italy.

The Man of the Beatitudes
Pier Giorgio Frassati
“Jesus is with me, I have nothing to fear.”
Bl Pier Giorgio Frassati
His life was a fusion of contemplation and action, showing that holiness is not reserved for the cloistered but is possible in the streets, classrooms, and mountains.
Even in suffering, Pier Giorgio remained faithful. Contracting polio at age 24—likely from serving the poor—he died quietly, his final concern being that another sick man receive his medicine. Thousands lined the streets for his funeral, revealing the hidden impact of his life. His witness continues to inspire young people today: a reminder to live the Beatitudes with courage, joy, and love.

Blessed Carlo Acutis was a teenager from the modern era; born in the nineties he is the first saint to be recognised from the millennial generation. Carlo had a passion for computers and coding, he used his skills, gifts and the digital platform to evangelise.
At just 11 years old, he began creating a website cataloguing Eucharistic miracles from around the world, blending technology and theology in a way that spoke powerfully to his generation. His goal was simple yet profound: to help people rediscover the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
At the heart of Carlo’s life was a deep devotion to the Sacraments, he called the Eucharist a “highway to heaven” attended daily Mass, spent hours in Adoration. His love for the Eucharist wasn’t just personal—it was missionary. He believed that if people truly understood the miracle of the Eucharist, their lives would be transformed. Through his website and exhibitions, he invited thousands to encounter Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

“Conversion is nothing more than moving the gaze from the bottom to the High, a simple movement of the eye is enough."
Bl Carlo Acutis
After a short illness, Carlo died from leukaemia at just 15 years old. Yet his legacy continues to ripple across the globe, especially among young people who see in him a relatable, ‘sneaker-wearing saint’ who made holiness look possible. Carlo’s life reminds us that sanctity isn’t about escaping the digital age—it’s about sanctifying it. His witness is a call to use our gifts, however ordinary, to proclaim the extraordinary love of Christ.
